Westwind is one of the Oregon Coast's most beautiful places…. It is a center for retreats, education and research with over 500 acres of wilderness beach, salmon-bearing rivers and upland forests and meadows.
Access is by our river boat insuring its solitude and wildness. Our main camp facilities are set into pine covered hills overlooking the Pacific and range from single cabins to a full camp that can accommodate 150 guests. more...

seasonal diary
Spring fever has taken hold at Westwind! A couple of 70 degree days in a row the first week of April had everyone wearing big sheepish grins ... The rain fall totals at camp since November were over 75 inches! The skunk cabbage is high around Fraser Farm and the beaver pond filling the air with pungence and Trilliums were bountiful in camp this year.
Loads of sand has been piled up by the winter storms at the entrance path to camp (8 feet!) as well as out on the beach in front though the entrance to the big sea cave has been scoured out as have the rocks at the base of Cascade Head.
The grey whales have returned, hanging off of Poly Rock on their journey North as have the Black Brandt and Swallows.
Vistors to Westwind found five Japanese glass balls in the month of March alone…

ENHANCE
The first three months of 2007 were filled with many new projects at Westwind: The trail system is up and running and there has been NO erosion during recent rains and many comments about how easy it is to navigate in camp now!
A gleaming new southern entry gate was finally installed as was perimeter and regulatory signage out of durable porcelain enamel.
Trillium has been completely renovated with a kitchenette and large bedroom and full bath.
The upstairs lodge office has been doubled in size.
Construction on the new all aluminum vessel for the river crossing has commenced at Hammer Head Boats of Port Angeles Washington. (Delivery in late June this year.) |

recent events
The Confederated Tribes of Grande Ronde brought enthusiastic native youth from around the state for a 4 night stay. Outdoor School returned with many familiar faces and their characteristic good cheer.
Westwind Stewardship Group’s inaugural volunteer week-end was a wonderful event with members of many long term Westwind guest groups represented.
There were 1300 native plants loving planted along the new trail system; loads of trash was scooped off the beach (Including the giant hauser tow rope shown in the picture) and the buildings given a true Spring cleaning.
Thanks everyone. Come again soon and bring other Westwind lovers with you! |
